Events held in the last quarter (April-June 2012)

WORLD SIDDHAR’S DAY: This time World Siddhar’s Day was celebrated as a 10 day Festival at Vellore from 3.4.12 to 13.4.12. In all these days Yagnam was conducted and public were participated voluntarily in these yagnams. Everyday a saint was participated as Guest and inaugurated the yagnman in the morning. On 12.4.2012, a seminar on the theme “Present Day Problems faced by Traditional Siddha Practitioners” was conducted. Padmashri. Darshan Shankar of FRLHT participated as Chief Guest. A web site was inaugurated in this seminar. On 13.4.12, Idols of all 18 siddhars and other Saints including Sri Puttru Maharish, in total 27 idols were taken in a procession through the streets of Sathuvatchari. Honorable Minister for Health, Dr.Vijay has participated and worshiped the Saints at Sathuvatchari.
On 22.4.2012, Training Class on Panja Patchi was held.
On 28.4.12, an awareness camp on Medicinal Plants was conducted in coordination with SINAM ( an NGO) . A free Sidhha Medical Camp was also oragnised in the same venue for the benefit of the participants.
On 4.5.12, Saint Appaji Swamigal participated in the Completion Ceremony of Siddhar’s Day yagnam.
Dr.K.P.Arjunan has participated in the Birthday Celebrations of Saint Appaji Purushothaman Swamigal (Vellore) held at Raipur on 5.5.12 on as special invitee.
On 5.5.12, Full Moon worship was conducted by Siddhar Neri Mandram.
Two days Varma Conference was held at Vivekanda Kendram, Kanyakumari under the guidance of Dr.V.Ganapathy. Dr.K.P.Arjunan and his team participated in this conference.
Five Days Workshop for College Girls on INDIAN SYSTEM OF MEDICINE, SIDDHA SYSTEM OF MEDICINE AND MEDICINAL PLANTS was held at Puducherry from 27.5.2012 to 31.5.2012. Field Publicity Office, Govt. of India, Puducherry was organized this workshop in coordination with Tamilnadu Parambariya Siddha Vaidhya Maha Sangam. Dr.K.V.Raman, Director, Department of Health, Govt. of Puducherry inaugurated the workshop on 27.5.2012. Dr.N.Balaji, Director, ISM & H, Govt. of Puducherry participated in the final day. Valedictory function was held on 31.5.2012 under the presidentship of Dr.A.Chellaperumal, Prof and HOD, Dept. of Anthropology, Pondicherry University. 60 Girl Students from various colleges participated and Dr.T.Sivakumar, Field Publicity Officer made all the arrangements for the workshop.
Medicinal Plants Exhibition was put up in the Vellore Town Railway Station in connection with the Red Ribbon Express Arrival on 25.5.2012.
