Sri Puttru Maharishi tradition has the history from the year 1516 in Vellore and the tradition has rich knowledge of medicine in the form of Handbooks, Palm Leaf scripts and Also through oral communication, several tips on diseases were passed through generations. Dr.K.P.Arjunan wanted to disseminate this accumulated knowledge on siddha medicine system to more number of persons. So the 47th Guru in this Sri Puttru Maharishi Tradition, Dr.K.P.Arjunan radically started Gurukulam and through this he spread the knowledge to the society.

This practice of dissemination of knowledge as a one year course under the name of GURUKULA KALVI was started in 1980. Classes are conducted only in Sundays i.e. 52 Sundays in a year. The students who underwent this course became efficient healers of siddha system of medicine.

So far 45683 persons underwent this one year gurukulam course. Among them, 99 students established clinics throughout the country and run them effectively. To name few of such students are
